Giving credit in Research Papers.?
For magazines, newspapers, and the internet, do you give credit the same way as you give books?
For example: The boy ran (Smith 16).
^^^ That is for books. I do have the respective authors for my articles, and the internet source; I’m just not sure on how to give credit when using an idea from their work.
I am not talking about the works cited list/bibliography at the end of the paper. Thank you very much in advance!
Yes, you have to include parenthetical citation for every thing.
How you do it all depends on whether you’re using MLA or APA.
If you direct quote (Smith, 2006, p. 12) if you paraphrase (Smith, 2006).
Check out “citation machine” on the web – it’s a great resource to plug in your info and it will make the references for you. Also, if you are using Microsoft 2007 you can build your references in Word and it will form the in text citations for you – you just have to insert.
