May common people be nominated to “Ig Nobel Prize”?
I’d like to nominee a friend of mine, for 2010 Ig Nobel Prize for Mathematics.
<
He is only a 23 years old student.
2006 Math Price was given to two people for figuring out how many photographs to take of a group of people to be confident of getting at least one where no-one’s blinking.
My friend’s mathematical formula is weirder than this.
I’ve created a video about it on Youtube, and it had 5.800 visits in 23 hours, so I think my friend has a chance.
But… my question is: May common people take part in this?
@Mike: Not, he wasn’t paid.
It is not how weird the formula is – it is that someone got paid for doing the research so it was presumably approved as part of a research program. Was your friend funded?
Edit
, in fact, looking at the winners, they had their research published in peer reviewed journals. You might be able to submit it to the less rigorous Journal published by the society that sponsors the Ig Nobel – see here http://improbable.com/about/
