I’m haveing problems with WordPress Widgets?
I’m using the WordPress Theme ‘Branford Magazine’ with the ‘Nimbo Sidebar,’ and I am trying to add the plugin ‘Quotes-Collection,’ so that I might add tips to my blog.
The sidebar already contains information such as ‘archive’ an ad block, all the usual info you’d find on a standard sidebar. My problem is this when I go to WP Admin » Appearance » Widgets, and drag ‘Random Quote’ widget into the sidebar the quote shows but all the other info disapears! Any idea why? What am I doing wrong.
This happens when the theme has default widgets setup or is not currently using widgets for your sidebar.
When you drop a widget into the dynamic sidebar, the them then loads the dynamic sidebar instead of the themes default one, making only your new widget show up.
To remedy this, I recommend taking your Random Quote widget out, looking at your page and taking note of which widgets are displayed by default, and then going back in and dragging those widgets (and your Random Quote widget) into the sidebar and saving it. That will have them all showing up.
An alternative is to go into your editor, locate the sidebar.php file, and add the random quote widget by hand.
